Everything you need to know about turning your music into visual art.
Getting Started
Waveform is a browser-based audio visualizer that transforms any music track into downloadable geometric video art. Upload a track, pick a visual style, hit play, and download your video — no app installs, no account required.
Waveform supports MP3, WAV, AAC, and M4A. FLAC and OGG are not currently supported on Safari. For best compatibility across all browsers and devices, we recommend MP3.
Yes — Waveform works on iOS Safari. Tap any button to initialise audio (required by iOS), then tap Play to begin. For best results on iPhone, use MP3 files. AIF and AIFF files may cause decoding errors on Safari.
No account needed. Visit waveform.rocks, upload your track, and start creating. An email sign-up is available if you'd like to be notified about new features.
Visual Styles
Five styles to choose from:
Basic — clean geometric shapes and forms
Animals — reactive animal-inspired outlines
Flowers — organic, blooming patterns
Galactic — deep-space cosmic visuals
Random — cycles automatically through all styles
Burst spawns a rapid explosion of shapes from the center of the screen. It's perfect for drops, chorus moments, or any point in your track where you want a big visual impact.
Yes — use the Color button in the controls bar to toggle between color palettes. Use Clear to reset the canvas and start fresh at any point.
Downloading & Sharing
Waveform auto-detects what your browser supports. Most modern browsers export MP4. Some browsers (Firefox, older Chrome) may export WebM. Both formats are compatible with all major social platforms.
Your downloaded video works on:
TikTok — upload directly as a video post
Instagram — post as a Reel or Story
YouTube Shorts — great for discovery
Spotify Canvas — via your music distributor
Facebook Reels and X / Twitter
No. Waveform runs entirely in your browser using the Web Audio API and Canvas API. Your audio never leaves your device — there are no servers, no uploads, and no storage of your files.
Yes. The visual output Waveform generates from your audio is yours to use freely, including commercially. You retain all rights to your music and the generated visuals. See our Terms & Conditions for full details.
Pricing
Yes — Waveform is free during our beta period. We may introduce premium features in the future, but there will always be a free tier for artists.
Waveform is a single-file app with zero running costs — no servers, no databases, no API calls. Everything processes in your browser. That's what makes it free. Sign up with your email on the app to be notified when premium features launch.
